… an opportunity
We were recently contacted by a local church in Virginia with the following request:
Greetings,
This may be a long shot, but I have a question and invitation for you. I am a minister of a congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have an elderly widow in our congregation, a veteran (along with her deceased husband) of the Armed Forces, who is raising a grandson and is living on a fixed income. Due to financial and health concerns, she is no longer able to maintain her home. We are undertaking a project as a congregation to help her prepare her home for sale. She has an in-ground swimming pool which has not been used for some time. It is mostly empty but needs to be fully drained, cleaned, and refilled. I am wondering if you would be willing to provide pro bono to assist with this part of our charitable project?
Thank you for your consideration of our request. This is a wonderful citizen of our community and we are trying to do whatever we can think of to help.
Without hesitation, our answer was “yes!” We believe in giving back to our communities so we saw this as an opportunity and completed the project on 7/2/2019.
